Box Score SAULT STE. MARIE - Lake Superior State led midway through Set 2
and late in Set 3, but couldn't sustain its advantage against a
well-balanced Grand Valley State volleyball team. No. 14-ranked
GVSU came back to win both sets and sweep Saturday's match, 25-14,
25-20, 25-22.
LSSU (2-21 overall, 1-14 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic
Conference) led 13-11 during the second set and 22-21 during the
third. Kaleigh Lound had kills for two of GVSU's last four points
of the match.
Sault Ste. Marie native Josie Werner and Abby Aiken led Grand
Valley State with eight kills each. Werner also posted two solo
blocks and six block assists.
Jen Marren, who missed three matches due to injury, returned to
the lineup and led LSSU in kills with nine. Brooklyn Gerber
followed with six kills. Janelle Nagy totaled 18 assists, followed
by Madison Castle with 11. Libero Meghan Drobish, LSSU's lone
senior who was honored prior to the match, led in digs with 14.
Nagy followed with 10.
GVSU improved to 19-4 overall and 15-1 in the GLIAC.
