Box Score NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Lake Superior State edged Maryville 54-52
Saturday to finish 1-1 during a season-opening men's basketball
tournament at Travecca Nazarene.
Senior guard Tony Harris scored 14 points and had seven
rebounds, and sophomore guard Jordan Dasuqi added 12 points to lead
the Lakers. Senior forward Alex Williams finished with eight points
and five rebounds.
The Saints led 27-23 at halftime. LSSU's Devin Daly and Mike
Nicholson made back-to-back layups to give the Lakers a 31-30
advantage with 13:45 remaining, and the game remained close
throughout the second half.
Harris canned back-to-back jumpers for a 51-44 LSSU command with
3:44 to go. The Lakers never relinquished their lead.
LSSU shot 45.1 percent from the field, including 6-of-18 from
three-point range. The Lakers made 2-of-5 free throws. Maryville
(1-1) out-rebounded LSSU, 31-27.
Josh Montague totaled 13 points and eight rebounds to lead
Maryville (Mo.). Armon Provo added 12 points and four rebounds. The
Saints shot 37.8 percent from the field, including 7-of-22 from
behind the arc, and made 11-of-16 free throws. LSSU held Maryville
to seven second-half field goals.
LSSU plays host to Kentucky Wesleyan in its home opener at 1
p.m. on Nov. 22.
