Box Score PAINESVILLE, Ohio - Lake Superior State's three-point shooters
enjoyed another hot first half, and the Lakers and landed five
players in double figures while posting a 78-63 non-conference
women's basketball victory over Ursuline College on Saturday.
The game was played at Lake Erie College.
LSSU's Stephanie Fisher, Mackenzie Edwards and April LaCross
were a combined 8-of-13 from three-point range as the Lakers (3-0)
controlled the first half and led 39-28 at intermission.
Kandace Crittendon went on to score 10 second-half points and
top the Lakers with 17 points. Fisher finished with 16 points, and
LaCross had 14. Crishauna Harper scored 12 points, and Edwards
added 11 coming off the bench.
LSSU led by as many as 17 points during the first half. Ursuline
(0-6) cut the lead to six at 16:03 of the second half, but the
Lakers built a double-figure lead midway through the period and had
a 15-point cushion with 3:47 remaining.
LaCross led the Lakers in rebounds with six and was followed by
Edwards with five. Harper had a team-high five assists, and Edwards
led in steals with three.
The Lakers shot 45.8 percent from the field for the game,
including 9-of-28 from three-point range, and made 15-of-20 free
throws. The out-rebounded Ursuline, 36-31.
During its season opener against McKendree, LSSU was 7-of-13
from three-point range during the first half.
Emma Ricketts totaled 21 points and seven rebounds to lead
Ursuline, which shot 35.5 percent from the field (2-of-9 from
behind the arc) and 17-of-24 at the free-throw line.
The Lakers play their Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic
Conference opener Dec. 4 at Wayne State.
