MARQUETTE - Northern Michigan swept Lake Superior State, 25-15, 25-14, 25-20, during Friday's Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference volleyball match to maintain sole possession of third place in the GLIAC North Division.

NMU (13-13 overall, 13-4 GLIAC) holds a one-game lead over fourth-place Saginaw Valley State. Ferris State and Grand Valley State lead the field with 16-1 marks.

Brooklyn Gerber and Elizabeth Ballor had four kills each for LSSU (2-22 overall, 1-15 GLIAC). Gerber also led the Lakers in digs with nine. Janelle Nagy totalled 15 assists and eight digs. Meghan Drobish added eight digs.

Alex Larsen and Madison Whitehead led NMU with nine kills each.

The Lakers play at Michigan Tech on Saturday.
