Box Score BIG RAPIDS, Mich.- Lake Superior State fell to Western
Collegiate Hockey Association rival Ferris State 5-0 Saturday
during game two of the weekend series.
The Lakers (3-17-0 overall, 3-11-0 WCHA) were unable to generate
their offense against Bulldogs' starting goaltender CJ Motte. Motte
posted 24 saves to collect the fourth shutout of his senior
season.
LSSU freshman goaltender Gordon
Defiel (3-15-0) faced 40 shots, saving 35 on the evening.
Defiel endured a 16-shot third period, during which the Bulldogs
netted three goals.
Junior Kenny Babinski notched the game-winning goal to open
FSU's scoring at 1:08 of the second period. The Bulldogs (9-7-1
overall, 6-4-0 WCHA) tacked on their second goal of the game with a
goal by Brandon Anselmini at 3:00 of the second.
The Lakers will be off for two weekends during the holiday break
before heading to the Florida College Hockey Classic where they
will face Cornell (5-5-1) Sunday, Dec. 28. They will also face
either Notre Dame or Miami (Ohio).
