Box Score FINDLAY, Ohio - The University of Findlay's Croy Fieldhouse is
one of the toughest road venues in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference. Northwood found that out when the 21st-ranked
Oilers overcame a late four-point deficit to win Thursday's GLIAC
contest.
Lake Superior State, expecting a battle, had an answer for every
Oiler run Saturday and pulled off a 70-62 victory. The Lakers won
their fifth straight to improve to 5-1 overall and 2-0 in the
GLIAC.
LSSU shot 52.2 percent (12-of-23) in the second half after
leading at halftime, 31-19. The Lakers stormed to an early 18-6
lead.
Inside the 8-minute mark of the second half, Alex Williams and
Jordan Dasuqi sandwiched three-pointers to negate the effects of
Elijah Kahlig's triple, regaining a double-digit Laker lead.
Lake Superior State continued to control the game until UF's
Nick Ruthsatz made back-to-back three-pointers late in the period.
LSSU's Tony Harris answered the first three-pointer with a layup
and the second with two free throws, leaving the Oilers with an
eight-point deficit with 1:04 remaining.
Alex Williams scored 10 first-half points and led LSSU with 18
points and eight rebounds. Devin Daly came off the bench to total
10 points and six rebounds. Jordan Dasuqi and Tony Harris scored
nine points each, and Mike Nicholson added eight points.
The Lakers shot 45.5 percent from the field, including 7-of-23
from three-point range, and made 13-of-18 free throws. They
out-rebounded UF, 36-31.
Dylan Kaufman scored 15 points and Ruthsatz added 14 points and
five assists to lead Findlay (2-2 overall, 1-1 GLIAC). The Oilers
shot 43.8 percent from the field, including 9-of-22 from
three-point range, and made 11-of-21 free throws.
LSSU plays its GLIAC home opener against Malone at 7:30 p.m.
Thursday.
