Division contender Michigan Tech defeated Lake Superior State 65-40
Saturday at MTU's Student Development Center.
Michigan Tech (14-4 overall, 12-2 GLIAC), which is battling
Wayne State for the top spot in the North Division women's
basketball standings, held LSSU (5-15 overall, 5-9 GLIAC) to 13
field goals. The Lakers shot 25 percent from the field.
Kandace Crittendon, April LaCross, Marie Gaedke and Kelsey Ance
scored five points each to lead LSSU. Laura VanEs totaled four
points and a game-leading 13 rebounds.
LSSU was 2-of-13 from behind the arc and 12-of-23 at the
free-throw line.
MTU out-scored LSSU 18-3 in points off turnovers.
Jillian Ritchie and Mackenzie Perttu scored nine points each to
lead Michigan Tech, which shot 38.1 percent from the field and
3-of-9 from behind the arc. The Huskies made 14-of-16 free
throws.
LSSU plays host to Wayne State at 5:30 p.m. Monday at Bud Cooper
Gymnasium. The game will be broadcast live on WSOO 1230 AM with a
pay-per-view webcast on AmericaOne.
