Box Score SAULT STE. MARIE - Lake Superior State relied on a diverse
attack Saturday to overtake Lake Erie in four sets and secure its
first Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference volleyball
victory of the season.
The Lakers (2-10 overall, 1-6 GLIAC) posted a team attack
percentage over .200 for the first time this season and defeated
Lake Erie, 25-22, 25-15, 17-25, 25-20. Jen Marren totaled 11 kills,
and Janelle Nagy and Sydne McMullen had 10 each to lead LSSU
hitters. McMullen also had the Lakers' highest individual attack
rate of .421.
After losing the third set to the Storm, narrowing its match
lead to two sets to one, LSSU took off to a 6-1 lead during Set 4
and never looked back. Marren had the Lakers' hot hand during the
final set, totaling four kills. Nagy and Madison Castle also set
the tone by combining for five service aces.
Nagy finished with 24 assists, and Castle added 16. The passing
duo finished with a combined seven aces.
Meghan Drobish totaled 16 digs, followed by Jenna Kilmer with
11. Brooklyn Gerber and Elizabeth Ballor led in blocks with three
each.
Sara Aultz led Lake Erie (2-10 overall, 0-7 GLIAC) with 15
kills. Madison Russell added 12.
