Box Score PAINESVILLE, Ohio - The 24th-ranked Lake Superior State men's
basketball team returned from a 12-day holiday layoff Friday and
beat Lake Erie 79-60.
The Lakers (10-1 overall, 5-0 Great Lakes Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference) posted their 10th straight win, tying last
year's previous-best win streaks that were established during two
different runs.
LSSU got off to an impressive start against the Storm (4-5
overall, 1-4 GLIAC), who were limited 19.2 percent from the field
during the first half. The Lakers led 40-15 at halftime.
Senior Alex Williams totaled 17 points, nine rebounds and four
assists to lead Lake Superior State for the game. Junior Devin Daly
finished with 16 points, and freshman Akaemji Williams added
11.
Alex Williams and Daly combined to score 19 first-half
points.
LSSU shot 49.1 percent from the field for the game, including
8-of-23 from three-point range, and made 17-of-26 free throws. The
Lakers committed only six turnovers.
Michael Morris scored 10 points, and Sean Howard and Nick Wells
added nine each to lead Lake Erie. The Storm shot 35.2 percent from
the field, including 5-of-19 from behind the arc, and made 17-of-29
free throws. They out-rebounded LSSU, 41-35.
LSSU plays at Ashland at 3 p.m. Sunday.
