Box Score ASHLAND, Ohio - The top-scoring women's basketball team in the
Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference overpowered Lake
Superior State 72-33 Sunday and gave their coach, the legendary Sue
Ramsey, her 350th career victory.
The Eagles (8-4 overall, 4-2 GLIAC), who average a
league-leading 72.7 points per game, shot 51.7 percent from the
field against the Lakers (5-5 overall, 1-5 GLIAC). They led 36-17
at halftime after shooting a blistering 58.3 percent (14-of-24)
during the first half.
Ramsey was named NCAA Division II Coach of the Year in 2012. She
plans to retire from coaching at the conclusion of the 2014-15
season.
Kelsey Ance came off the bench and totaled 11 points and six
rebounds to lead LSSU. Lakers leading scorer Stephanie Fisher
followed with seven. LSSU shot a season-low 23.1 percent from the
field, including 3-of-18 from three-point range, and made 6-of-12
free throws.
Andi Daugherty totaled 15 points and seven rebounds, and Laina
Snyder added 14 points and 13 rebounds to lead Ashland. The Eagles
were 5-of-10 from behind the arc and 7-of-9 at the free-throw line.
They out-rebounded LSSU, 44-30.
The Lakers play host to Ohio Dominican at 5:30 p.m.
