Box Score INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Eighth-ranked Indianapolis improved to 2-2 against Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball teams with Saturday's 93-75 victory over Lake Superior State.
The teams matched each other possession after possession until a 15-0 Greyhounds run midway through the second half.
LSSU's Akaemji Williams converted a three-point play for a 53-48 Laker lead with 14:10 remaining in the game. The Lakers also led 60-58 with 9:42 to go.
Indianapolis (2-2) took advantage of two three-pointers by Eric Davidson and one by Joe Retic while out-scoring LSSU 15-0 during a 2:48 span and claiming the lead for good.
Davidson and LSSU's Devin Daly led all scorers with 26 points each. Davidson was 6-for-8 from behind the arc.
In addition to his scoring, Daly totaled six rebounds and three assists. Daly has scored 22 or more points in all three games this season. Williams finished with 24 points, a school-record nine steals and four assists before fouling out. It was Williams' second straight 24-point performance.
Williams beat the former single-game school steals record of seven shared by Joe Spicer (1983), Tony Avant (1987), John Gilbert (1988), Chris Wooley (1989), David Greenwood (1990) and Derek Billing (2010).
Lake Superior State (2-1), which has played three straight Great Lakes Valley Conference opponents, shot 46.8 percent from the field, including 6-of-27 from three-point range. The Lakers made 11-of-16 free throws.
Lucas Barker totaled 16 points, six rebounds, five assists and four steals for Indianapolis. Jordan Lloyd added 15 points. The Greyhounds shot 51.9 percent from the field, including 10-of-20 from three-point range, and made 29-of-33 free throws. They out-rebounded LSSU, 38-21.
UIndy snapped a two-game losing skid that included losses to Ashland and Hillsdale.
The Lakers continue non-conference play with a home game at 7 p.m. Tuesday against Algoma University.
