Box Score SAULT STE. MARIE - Lake Superior State men's basketball capped the 2015 portion of their schedule with a 93-66 victory over U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association member Silver Lake College on Saturday at the Cooper Gymnasium. The victorious Lakers improved their overall record to 9-1 on the season.
Jordan Dasuqi scored a career-high 22 points, thanks to hitting 7-of-14 shots from behind the three point line in the contest. Dasuqi, a junior, also knocked down his lone free throw attempt stemming from a made three-point shot while he was fouled in the first half.
The Clarkston, Mich. native scored 19 of his 22 points during the first half and also contributed seven rebounds in the contest.
Devin Daly hauled in his seventh double-double of the season after having a streak of five consecutive games of double digit points and double digit rebounds broken against Algoma University on Thursday. The senior forward scored 20 points on 8-of-12 shooting and tallied 12 rebounds, including five on the offensive end.
Returning to action for his final semester of eligibility on Saturday, Jake Blake wasted little time getting back to speed after a semester away from the team.
Blake racked up a doubled-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds (five offensive rebounds) in 25 minutes of reserve action. The Alma, Mich. native also dished out four assists and made two steals.
Starting guard Akaemji Williams picked up 16 points and also racked up seven assists in the game.
SLC was able to hange around during the first half, going 14-29 from the field and hitting 5-of-11 (45.5 percent) from behind the arc.
The hometown Lakers took a 49-36 lead into halftime with the help of the defense generating seven steals and a pair of blocks, while forcing the Silver Lake Lakers into nine first half turnovers.
In the contest, SLC committed 22 turnover, to which LSSU capitalized for 29 points off of the mistakes.
LSSU also outscored SLC 43-30 in the paint and scored 16 second-chance points with the help of 17 offensive rebounds.
The Lakers will return to the Cooper Gymansium at 3 p.m. on Jan. 2 to face Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference foe Lake Erie.
