Box Score UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. - Samantha Zirzow and Emily Wendling
scored 20 points each to lead Saginaw Valley State, which avenged a
mid January five-point loss at Lake Superior State with Thursday's
67-49 homecourt win.
The Cardinals (7-15 overall, 2-14 Great Lakes Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference) snapped an eight-game losing streak, while the
Lakers (7-13 overall, 3-13 GLIAC) dropped to 0-7 since their home
victory over SVSU.
Mackenzie Edwards scored 12 points and Natalie Peterson added
nine to lead Lake Superior State. Tamara Novic led LSSU in rebounds
with seven, and April LaCross and Kandace Crittendon added five
each.
The Lakers shot 33.9 percent from the field, including 4-of-18
from three-point range, and made 5-of-12 free throws.
Wendling had a double double for SVSU after compiling 10
rebounds. The Cardinals shot 46.9 percent from the field, including
3-of-6 from three-point range, and made 18-of-21 free throws. They
out-rebounded LSSU, 40-30.
SVSU led at halftime, 33-25.
It was the second straight year that the teams split their GLIAC
series.
LSSU plays at 1 p.m. Saturday at Hillsdale.
