Laker men's basketball outlasts Grand Valley in overtime, 82-74

SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - Lake Superior State men's basketball team got back on track Thursday night with an 82-74 overtime victory over Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rival Grand Valley State.

The Lakers (13-4, 8-3 GLIAC) allowed Grand Valley State back into the game during the second half and eventually allowed the game-tying three-pointer by Myles Miller of GVSU with 13 seconds remaining in regulation. Miller led all GVSU scorers with 15 points in 21 minutes of reserve action.

After losing three games during the past four games, all on the road against GLIAC opponents, head coach Steve Hettinga's band of Lakers didn't mind playing an extra five minutes to secure the important victory.

LSSU left little in doubt during overtime, outscoring GVSU 13-5 in front of a raucus Cooper Gymnasium crowd.

Senior forward Devin Daly netted a game-high 21 points and hauled in seven rebounds to help the Lakers get back to their winning way.s

Sophomores Mike Nicholson and Akaemji Williams added a pair of double-doubles to give the Lakers an all-around effort.

Nicholson, a center, scored 10 points and added 10 rebounds, while Williams scored 11 points and dished out 10 assists.

Jordan Dasuqi scored 10 ponts and freshman Carson Manger added nine to round out the LSSU starting five.

LSSU hosts Ferris State on Saturday at 3 p.m. ET.
