SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich.— The Lake Superior State hockey team erupted with four third period goals Saturday as it defeated Alaska-Fairbanks, 4-1, to earn a Western Collegiate Hockey Association weekend spilt.

"I thought we responded extremely well tonight," said Lake Superior State coach Damon Whitten. "I thought it was a complete effort by almost everyone."
