SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Lake Superior State men's basketball program (0-2) fell on the road to the Drury Panthers (2-0) by a final score of 92-78 on Saturday.

The Panthers opened the game on a 15-2 run on five made three-pointers, but a three-pointer from Tyson Edmondson (Ypsilanti, Mich.) helped the Lakers to a small run of their own. Drury was able to continue their hot start from beyond the arc, but once again, the Lakers were there to weather the storm with a 7-0 run that was kicked off with a three from senior guard C.J. Robinson (Clarkston, Mich.), and Andy Soma (Traverse City, Mich.) tied up the score at 27-27 to cap off an 11-0 run for the Lakers. However, the Panthers were able to close out the first half with a 12-2 run to take a 48-37 lead into the halftime break.

Edmondson and Kemon Bassett (Detroit, Mich.) struck first to open the second half of play, combining for a 5-0 Laker run. Both teams would then go on to trade several points, always seeming to have an answer for each other, including a Robinson and-one and a pair of jumpers from Kingsley Perkins (Ypsilanti, Mich.). However, the Panthers were able to go on a 9-0 run to extend their lead, and despite a late 9-2 run from the Lakers with several Bassett free throws, Drury held on to win by a final score of 92-78.

Despite the loss, five different Lakers finished the game scoring double-figures led by Bassett with 17. Caden Ebeling (Shelby Twp., Mich.) ended the evening with 12 points with Edmondson and Xander Okerlund (Empire, Mich.) right behind him with 11 points each. Meanwhile, Perkins finished with 10 points while also leading all players with seven rebounds. 

The Lakers will now turn their attention to their home-opener against Algoma on Wednesday, Nov. 16 at 6 p.m.
