Laker Hockey Falls at Bowling Green Despite Pair of Goals From Roy

Box Score

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Lake Superior State hockey program (3-16-2, 2-9-1 CCHA) fell to the Bowling Green Falcons (11-12-0, 8-7-0 CCHA) by a final score of 5-2 on Friday.

The Falcons were able to capitalize on an early Laker penalty with Ethan Scardina scoring one minute and twenty-one seconds into the contest, and Nathan Burke would put Bowling Green up 2-0 midway through the opening period.

Quinn Emerson stole the puck away to extend the Falcon lead to 3-0 at the 4:37 mark of the second period. However, the Lakers would jump right back into the game with precise passing on a power play from Jacob Bengtsson (Stockholm, Sweden) and Louis Boudon (Grenoble, France) leading to the fourth goal of the season for Harrison Roy (Lakeville, Mass.).

The Lakers continued to battle going into the third period, but Ben Wozney was able to score his first goal of the season to push the Bowling Green lead back to a three-score advantage. Late in the period, a Falcon penalty would offer the Lakers a prime scoring opportunity, and after electing to pull Ethan Langenegger (Kamloops, B.C.) out of the crease in favor of an extra attacker for a 6-4 skater advantage, Roy would strike again with assists from Brandon Puricelli (Ellisville, Mo.) and Bengtsson. However, it would not be enough as the Falcons managed to ice the game away with an empty-netter from Zach Vinnell.

Despite the loss, Langengegger finished the night with 28 saves, and both Roy and Bengtsson each notched two points with the latter being named the third star of the game.

The Lakers will be looking to bounce back with a chance for a series split on Saturday with puck drop scheduled for 7:07 p.m.
