Laker Hockey Bounces Back With Dominant 6-1 Win at BSU

Box Score

BEMIDJI, Minn. - The Lake Superior State (LSSU) hockey program (8-9-1, 5-6-1 CCHA) bounced back with a dominant 6-1 victory over the Bemidji State Beavers (6-10-0, 5-5-0 CCHA) on Saturday.

The Lakers started off strong with Evan Bushy (Thief River Falls, Minn.) firing in the first goal of his collegiate career after being set up by John Herrington (Hudson's Hope, B.C.) and Connor Milburn (Kamloops, B.C.) three and a half minutes into the game. Then, at the 15:08 mark, Dawson Tritt (Spokane, Wash.) found himself in the right place at the right time, tapping in a rebound for a power play score after Ross Roloson (Woodbury, Minn.) sent in the puck off of a pass from Herrington to double up the score going into the first intermission.

Carter Batchelder (Savage, Minn.) put the Lakers up 3-0, scoring on a breakaway after Tritt went after a loose puck and Joshua Wildauer (Dearborn Heights, Mich.) pushed it ahead. Roloson would then find the back of the net with a quick shot right off of a faceoff win by Milburn, extending the lead to four goals. Carter Jones was able to get the Beavers on the board late in the period, but the Lakers took a commanding 4-1 lead into the second intermission.

At the 2:47 mark of the third period, the Lakers continued to pour it on as Brett Roloson (Worcester, Mass.) won his faceoff, and Reagan Milburn (Kamloops, B.C.) got the puck to Blanchett who fired in the first goal of his career to push the LSSU lead back out to four. B. Roloson would then give the Lakers a 6-1 lead after getting loose on a breakaway with help from R. Milburn and Luke Levandowski (Rosemount, Minn.).

Ethan Langenegger (Kamloops, B.C.) picked up his seventh win of the season between the pipes after stopping 27 of 28 shots he faced for a save percentage of .964. Six different Lakers had multi-point nights, and the Lakers combined for 20 total blocks to help take pressure off of their goaltender.

The Lakers return to action on Saturday, Dec. 16 when they travel for a single game at Ferris State with puck drop scheduled for 5:07 p.m.
