ESCANABA, Mich. - The Lake Superior State (LSSU) men's and women's cross country programs each placed 2nd at the Bay College Invitational on Friday.
Roy Bowman (Jerome, Mich.) led the way for the men's team with a time of 30:14.4 while Nathaniel Kilgore (Lansing, Mich.) was not far behind, crossing the finish line just over ten seconds later. Skylar Williams (Battle Creek, Mich.) and Derrian Kumfer (Romeo, Mich.) would then finish with respective times of 30:58.5 and 31:55.8. Elijah Sprague (Rudyard, Mich.) crossed the finish line with a time of 33:17.2 while Riley Sponseller (Mt. Pleasant, Mich.) finished approximately 35 seconds later. Gary Haight (Charlevoix, Mich.) and Oliver Wisniewski (Berkley, Mich.) rounded out the lineup for the Laker men with respective times of 34:19.0 and 34:21.1.
Noel Black (Otsego, Mich.) finished 2nd overall on the individual leaderboard in the women's 5k with a time of 20:18.9. Jessa Davis (Birch Run, Mich.) would then finish with a time of 23:51.3, and Grace Kreps (Goulais River, Ont.) and Olivia Stevens (Grand Haven, Mich.) crossed the finish line within less than ten seconds of each other with respective times of 24:26.1 and 24:33.3. Kara Mosher (Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.) rounded out the lineup for the women's team with a time of 26:00.1.
The Lakers will now turn their attention to the GLIAC Championships in Big Rapids, Mich. on Saturday, Oct. 26.
