ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Lake Superior State men's and women's cross country programs competed at the 2024 Midwest Regional Championships on Saturday.
Men
First year runner Gavin Guggemos led the way for the Lakers in the men's 10k with a time of 33:13.5. Then, Ethan Nachazel (East Jordan, Mich.) finished the race with a time of 34:39.6, and he was followed closely by his brother, Aaron, who crossed the finish line 14 seconds later. Connor Rouse (Genesee, Mich.) was the next to finish for the Lakers with a time of 35:06.0, and Reese Camp (Highland, Mich.) was just over 20 seconds behind him with a time of 35:27.3. Roy Bowman (Jerome, Mich.) and Ethan Meehle (Midland, Mich.) rounded out the lineup with respective times of 36:15.1 and 36:33.0.
Women
In the women's 6k, LSSU first year athlete Izzy Yeoman (Genesee, Mich.) finished first among her teammates with a time of 23:44.6, and Noel Black (Otsego, Minn.) was not too far behind with a time of 24:19.6. Madison Morgan was the next to finish for the Lakers with a time of 25:13.2, and she was followed closely by senior Sydney Kapushinski (Imlay City, Mich.) who crossed the finish line 13 seconds later. Keira Lamming (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.), Olivia Peter (Cass City, Mich.), and Sarah McDaniel (Manistique, Mich.) rounded out the lineup for the women's team with respective times of 26:27.7, 27:10.1, and 28:00.9.
