SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - The Lake Superior State (LSSU) volleyball team (7-20, 2-14 GLIAC) fell to the Michigan Tech Huskies (16-11, 10-7 GLIAC) by a final score of 3-0 on Saturday.
The Huskies were able to take an early advantage, but the Lakers battled with a pair of kills from Morgan Deming (Boyne City, Mich.) to keep her team within one. Michigan Tech would start to pull back ahead, but Deming continued to make her mark on the set with two more kills and a service ace. However, the Huskies would ultimately close out the set 25-16.
The Lakers went back and forth with the Huskies in the second set with multiple kills from Mariana Velasque (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) and Gia Waters (Minneapolis, Minn.), but Michigan Tech was able to nurse a slim lead before finding the final two points they needed to take the set 25-20.
The Lakers would get multiple kills from both Waters and Olivia Boutorwick (Macomb, Mich.) in the third set, but the Huskies managed to pull ahead to close out the set and the match by respective scores of 25-13 and 3-0.
