SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – Tyson Edmondson (Ypsilanti, Mich.) and
Hunter Soper (Lexington, Mich.) have been recognized as the GLIAC's Men's Basketball Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively, as announced by the league office on Monday.
Edmondson shot the lights out in the Lakers' 96-94 victory over UIndy on Friday, finishing the day with a career-high 33 points while shooting 69% from the floor, including hitting on 7 of his 9 attempts from beyond the arc. Edmondson's performance helped lead his team to come back from down 15 points in the second half and win the game in overtime, including sinking three consecutive shots from deep to start the extra five minutes of action. Additionally, he also contributed 7 rebounds, 4 assists, a steal, and a block.
Soper's defensive effort proved crucial in the Lakers' win against UIndy, denying the Greyhounds on several occasions with a pair of steals and two blocks all while playing strong defense throughout the entirety of the game to hold UIndy to only 24 points in the paint. Soper also contributed 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists for a solid all-around performance.
Edmondson, Soper, and the rest of the Lakers return to action when they take on Missouri-St. Louis at the McKendree DII Classic on Thursday, Nov. 21 with tipoff scheduled for 5:30 PM CT.
