SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - The Lake Superior State (LSSU) women's basketball team (5-13, 2-8 GLIAC) fell to the Northern Michigan Wildcats (13-5, 7-3 GLIAC) by a final score of 175-37 on Saturday.
The Wildcats jumped out to an early advantage, but Grace Bradford (Maple City, Mich.) got things going to lead LSSU on a 7-0 run to take the lead. Both teams continued to battle, but Breah Golden (Arcadia, Wis.) hit a three to cap off an 8-0 Laker run to give her team the lead after the first ten minutes of action. However, Northern Michigan managed to pull ahead in the second quarter.Â
The Lakers continued to battle in the second half with a pair of threes from CeCe Hacker (Omaha, Neb.). However, the Wildcats were able to hold on to secure the victory.
Despite the loss, Bradford led the Lakers in scoring with 12 points. Meanwhile, Hacker also finished in double figures with 10 points of her own while securing a team-high 6 rebounds as well.
The Lakers return to action on Thursday, Jan. 30 when they host the Ferris State Bulldogs with tipoff scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
