Sault College swept Lake Superior State in a pair of weekend ACHA games, 5-1 and 8-3 at Taffy Abel Arena.
The Cougars (3-1) slowly built up a lead, scoring midway through the first and midway through the second.
Luke Vega scored at 13:16 of the second period for the Lakers' (3-5) lone goal of the contest. The goal marked the fourth of the year for the freshman from Grand Rapids, MI. But the Cougars countered, scoring three late in the third to seal the result.
On Saturday, they struck early and often, pouncing for four first period goals, then two more in the second. The Lakers got on the board with a pair of strikes by
Andrew Langford, who continues his stellar start to the season. Though the Lakers cut the margin in half, the Cougars scored twice in the third to put the game away.
