Box Score Despite a great second set, Lake Superior State dropped its GLIAC conference matchup to Wisconsin-Parkside Friday night in straight sets, 25-9. 25-21. 25-11.
Mia Garcia registered 11 digs for LSSUÂ (0-16, 0-9 GLIAC) in the loss, while
Elisa Rizzoli led the Lakers with 12 digs.
Morgan Deming scored five kills while adding four block assists.
An exciting second set saw the Lakers duel with the Rangers (13-6, 4-5 GLIAC). While the Rangers went on a 7-1 run to start the set, LSSU rallied to cut the score to 11-10, powered by a pair of kills by
Valeriya Varnakova. The Lakers took a 17-16 lead with
Vanessa Swerdon serving. Rizzoli scored a pair of kills to put the Lakers up by one. But the Rangers scored four of the last five points to seal the set.
Shea Berisoff scored four kills on ten swings for the Lakers, without an attacking error. Swerdon tallied 12 assists, while
Avery Headworth added another nine.
The Lakers head to Chicago to play Roosevelt on Saturday in GLIAC play. LSSU returns home on October 30
th to play Saginaw Valley State.
