Box Score 2 Lake Superior State traveled the Upper Peninsula of Michigan over the weekend, wrapping up the GLIAC regular season at Northern Michigan and Michigan Tech.
The Lakers (1-22, 1-15 GLIAC)Â were beaten in straight sets by NMU (15-13, 12-4 GLIAC)Â on Friday, 25-8, 25-19 and 25-23. The next day, LSSU ventured north to Houghton before dropping a straight sets match to Tech, 25-16, 25-22, 25-23.
Morgan Deming had another tremendous weekend for LSSU. She picked up four kills with a block for the Lakers in Friday's match, then dominated Saturday with nine kills on 19 hits. She also added a solo block, two block assists and a dig in the season-finale against the Huskies. For the year, Deming hit a solid .256 for LSSU, scoring 2.2 kills per set. She also led at the net, tallying 17 a team-high 17 blocks with 39 block assists, averaging nearly a block per set.
Elisa Rizzolo put her talents on display, scoring five kills with three service aces against the Wildcats on Friday. She added five digs in that match, then turned around and tallied 16 more on Saturday. She scored six kills in the Michigan Tech match.Â
Senior
Vanessa Swerdon had an excellent match against MTU, her final match as a collegiate volleyball player. She scored a kill, passed for 19 assists, scored two service aces and dug out seven Husky attacks. Fellow setter
Avery Headworth posted lines of 10 assists with a kill, five digs and a service ace Friday, then 14 assists with 10 digs Saturday.
Shea Berisoff scored nine kills on 19 swings Friday night, then added eight on 22 Saturday. She also assisted three blocks and added two digs.
Gia Waters had 23 digs for the weekend for LSSU.
