GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Lake Superior State (LSSU) women's basketball team (5-17, 2-10 GLIAC) fell on the road to the Daveport Panthers (5-17, 3-10 GLIAC) by a final score of 64-44 on Saturday.
CeCe Hacker (Omaha, Neb.) opened up the scoring with a three as both teams battled early, but the Panthers were able to push slightly ahead to take a five-point lead after the opening quarter.
Gracey Metz (Hartland, Mich.) and Grace Bradford (Maple City, Mich.) went to work in the paint to start the second quarter to trim the lead back down to one. However, Davenport managed to extend their lead going into halftime.
Bradford opened up the third quarter by going on a 7-0 run by herself. Davenport responded, but Bradford would close out the quarter with back-to-back threes. However, the Panthers were able to hold on in the fourth to secure the win.
Bradford led the way for LSSU with a 20-point, 11-rebound double-double which were game-highs in both categories.
The Lakers return to action on Thursday, Feb. 13 when they travel to face Northern Michigan with tipoff scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
