DETROIT, Mich. - The Lake Superior State (LSSU) women's basketball team (5-23, 2-18 GLIAC) fell to the Wayne State Warriors (18-10, 13-7 GLIAC) by a final score of 71-51 on Saturday.
The Warriors were able to get on the board first, but CeCe Hacker (Omaha, Neb.) countered with a three. The Lakers would continue to let it fly with threes from Breah Golden (Arcadia, Wis.) and Taylor Clarey (Rochester, Minn.), but Wayne State managed to put together a run to have themselves ahead 23-16 after the opening quarter.Â
The Lakers fought back in the second quarter, grinding their way to multiple trips to the free throw line before another three from Hacker cut the lead to two, but the Warriors were able to steady themselves, holding on to a seven point lead at the halftime break.Â
The Warriors were able to pull ahead in the third quarter, despite a fast break three from Golden, and despite a strong effort in the fourth quarter, Wayne State was able to pull ahead and secure the victory on their home floor.
