Laker Men's Basketball Cage the Huskies 83-73 in Regional Semis

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - The Lake Superior State (LSSU) men's basketball team (29-6) led from nearly wire to wire on their way to an 83-73 victory over GLIAC foe, Michigan Tech (24-8), in the second round of the 2025 NCAA Midwest Regional Tournament on Sunday behind a 31-point performance from Adam Harakow (Edmonton, Alta.).

The Huskies got on the board first with a bucket down low, but 2-0 would be the only lead that Michigan Tech would claim for the entirety of the contest as Tyson Edmondson (Ypsilanti, Mich.) picked up right where he left up from the day prior, lighting up the basket from deep. The Huskies fought back, but the Lakers responded with a 10-0 run that was kicked off with a three from Andy Soma (Traverse City, Mich.). Then, Harakow would begin to heat up, scoring 17 of the Lakers' final 20 points of the half to take a 45-30 lead into the break.

The Huskies opened up the second half fighting back with a pair of buckets inside, but a pair of threes from Hunter Soper (Lexington, Mich.) and Devin Womack (Ypsilanti, Mich.) pushed the LSSU lead out to 19, their largest of the night. However, Michigan Tech would not go down so easily, crawling their way all the way back to within three with five minutes to play. LSSU would then settle themselves down and proceed to use a 10-0 run to separate themselves back out and close out the Huskies to dance their way back to the Sweet 16.

Harakow led all players in scoring with a career-high 31 points while also securing a game-high 8 rebounds. Meanwhile, Edmondson put together another strong performance with 22 points of his own. Womack also finished in double figures with 11.

The Lakers will now turn their attention to a rematch with Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL) in the regional final with tipoff scheduled for Tuesday, March 18 at 8 p.m.
