Senior (2015-16): An Assistant Captain for LSSU, he scored twice and assisted two more goals. Schmitt struck for a shorthanded goal in a 4-2 win over Michigan State on 10/23/15, then added a strike against NMU on 2/26/16 in a 3-1 Laker win.

Junior (2014-15): An Assistant Captain for the Lakers. Added an assist on Jason Bird's goal during 5-3 loss to MTU (10/4)... Added two goals, including the game-winner during the 3-2 overtime victory over Anchorage (11/1)... Continued the Lakers' first win-streak of the season with another game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Alabama-Huntsville (11/14)... Scored 4-3--7 over a five game period from 11/1 thru 11/22... Scored a goal and an assist in a 5-2 loss at Ferris State (12/12)... Assisted on the game-winning goal in a 3-0 victory over Northern Michigan (2/28)... Finished second on the team in scoring with 7-8--15 in 38 games played... Shared the Jim Howie Unsung Hero award with Andrew Dommett in honor of their hardwork and leadership on and off of the ice.

Sophomore (2013-14): Notched his first goal of the season during LSSU’s 6-5 overtime win at Union (10/18)... Had his first multi-point game, netting two assists during LSSU’s 5-3 victory over MTU (11/15), and had a +3 rating... Scored LSSU’s game-winning goal over BGSU (11/30)... Picked up an even-strength goal on 1/24 and scored an empty-net goal on a delayed penalty on 1/25 at Bowling Green... Picked up his fifth goal Saturday and fifth assist Friday during the split with Alaska Anchorage (2/7-8)... Put the Lakers up 5-3 with a late goal to seal the victory against Northern Michigan (2/14). Finished (6-5--11).

Freshman (2012-13): Appeared in all 39 games and tallied his first collegiate goal during a 6-4 loss to Michigan (1/18)... Scored a short-handed goal during a 3-1 loss to Northern Michigan (3/1)... Scored three of his four goals during the Lakers’ final eight games of the season.

Prior to LSSU: Finished second on the Bismarck Bobcats’ regular-season all-time games-played list with 166... Served as team captain and totaled 14-16--30 with a plus-minus rating of +16 while helping the Bobcats (45-13) to a North American Hockey League Central Division title in 2011-12... Compiled a three-year, regular-season total of 24-39--63 plus 2-5--7 in 26 playoff games... Also helped the Bobcats win the 2012 Central Division Playoff title and was part of the 2010 Robertson Cup championship team.

Personal: Son of Mike and Beth Schmitt...A 2010 graduate of Minot High School... Father Mike serves as the Supervisor of Officials for the NCHC.
