After graduating from LSSU, Campbell embarked on a long professional hockey career. He signed at season's end with the AHL's Grand Rapids Griffins, spending the next five full seasons with the club. In 2016-17, Campbell and the Griffins lifted the Calder Cup as league champions. In 2020-21, Campbell went overseas to begin the next chapter of his career. That included stints with Vienna of the ICEHL, Augsburger Panther of the DEL and three seasons with Kunlun Red Star in the KHL. He was an Assistant Captain for the club in 2024-25.
Senior (2013-14): An Assistant Captain who scored 14 goals with 15 assists for 29 points in 36 games. An offensive force down the stretch - Scored and assisted against Minnesota State on 3/1/14, then scored in each of the next two games at Ferris State on 3/7/14 and 3/8/14. Put nine pucks on target on 3/7/14, the third time he'd done that during the season.
Junior (2012-13): Missed 30 games while recovering from off-season surgery... Recorded an assist during his first game back on Feb. 15 and notched two assists during his first three games.
Sophomore (2011-12): Finished third on the team in overall points with 9-16--25... LedLSSU and tied for seventh in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association in power-play points in games against league opponents with 2-8--10 (2-10--12 overall)... Recorded seven multiple-point games, including a two-goal game against Michigan State(10/15)... Compiled 1-3--4 during a series split at home against Miami (1/13-14)... Scored a goal in both games during the Lakers’ second-round playoff series at Western Michigan (3/9-10).
Freshman (2010-11): Appeared in 37 of 39 games... His first collegiate point was a goal during a 5-4 victory over Colgate (10/23)... Contributed 1-2--3 during the Central Collegiate Hockey Association Playoffs, including a goal during the Lakers’ 4-2 season-ending loss at Notre Dame (3/13).
Prior to LSSU:Was a teammate of Laker rookie Kevin Kapalka on the Vaughan Vipers of the Ontario Junior Hockey League... Tied for ninth in OJHL scoring after totaling 32-44--76 during the 2009-10 regular season and added 3-2--5 in five playoff games... Voted Team East’s player of the game during Game 1 of the Canadian Junior Hockey Prospects Games held in December, 2009, in Manitoba... Was ranked 157th on the 2010 NHL Scouting List and received the OJHL Top Prospects Award.
