Biography

After finishing his college career at LSSU, J.T. Henke played 15 games for the ECHL's Greenville Swamp Rabbits to close out the 2017-18 season. The next year, he scored 32 points in 34 games for the ECHL's Utah Grizzlies. From there, Henke's career moved behind the bench.

He returned to Sault Ste. Marie in 2019-20 as an assistant coach with the NOJHL's Soo Eagles. He moved on after one season, taking the head coach position with the Northern Cyclones 18U AAA team. He's remained with the organization, working in a variety of roles including 16U AAA coach and as an assistant with the NCDC team.

Senior (2017-18): Scored nine goals with 18 assists for 27 points. Struck for game winners against Alaska (12/2/17) and at Bemidji State (2/2/18).

Junior (2016-17): Earned the team's Blue Liner Award as the fan favorite, as voted by LSSU Blue Line Club members... Finished second in team scoring and tied for seventh in the WCHA with 30 points... Tied for second with 20 assists... fifth on the team with 10 goals... Tied for 83rd nationally in assists per game (0.56)... Scored three points in a game three times - 10/15/16 vs Michigan State, 1/7/17 at NMU, 2/18/17 at Alaska... Had a seven game point streak from December 30th through January 20th, scoring 11 points... Opened the season with a five game point streak.

Sophomore (2015-16): His 10 goals and 22 points led the Lakers. Scored his first career Laker goal and picked up an assist against North Dakota on 10/9/15... Scored a goal and assisted the game-winner at Michigan State on 10/22/15.

Prior to LSSU: Spent 2014-15 with the Tier III Junior A New Jersey Hitmen of the USPHL. In 2013-14, he was a freshman at Maine, appearing in 21 games and scoring a goal with seven assists. Scored 10/26/13 against UMass.

In Juniors, he scored 61 points on 22 goals and 39 assists in 43 regular season games for the EJHL's New Jersey Hitman during the 2012-13 campaign. Also competed in the USHL for Muskegon and Tri-City. A varsity letterwinner in baseball during his freshman and sophomore years, Henke graduated in 2012 from Kearney High School.

Personal: Son of Beth and Greg Henke. His father played college football at Eastern Michigan University. His uncle pitched in Major League Baseball for 14 seasons, from 1982 to 1995. Tom Heinke was a two-time MLB All-Star.
