Matt spent three seasons in the ECHL and SPHL after leaving LSSU. In the ECHL, he appeared for the Greenville Swamp Rabbits and Indy Fuel. In the SPHL, he competed for the Pensacola Ice Flyers, scoring 10 goals with 11 assists in 24 games during the 2017-18 season; the next year, he played in 43 games with seven goals and 11 assists for 18 points.
Junior (2015-16): Played in 27 games for Lake Superior State, picking up four assists. Turned pro at the end of the season, making six appearances for the ECHL's Greenville Swamp Rabbits.
Sophomore (2014-15): Picked up his first point of the season, an assist, in the opening matchup against Michigan Tech (10/4)... Tallied an assist and was +2 during an overtime victory over Alaska (11/22)... Finished the season with five assists and appeared in 33 games.
Freshman (2013-14): Scored his first collegiate goal against Robert Morris (10/12)... Had is first multi-point game during LSSU’s 5-3 win over MTU (11/15), netting a goal and an assist with a +2 rating... Missed three straight games due to injury... In his first game back from his injury (11/29), netted a goal during LSSU’s 4-3 victory over BGSU... Picked up his fourth goal as a Laker in a loss to Notre Dame (1/18)... Tallied two assists in a win over Bowling Green (1/24)... Picked up an assist against Northern Michigan (2/14)... Assisted on the game-winning goal over Alabama-Huntsville (Feb. 21)... Finished (4-5--9) in 33 games and had 14 penalties for 50 PIM.
Prior to LSSU: Enjoyed two successful seasons with the North American Hockey League’s Amarillo Bulls, totaling 26-33--59 in 76 games in 2011-12 and 17-28--45 in 61 games in 2012-13... Was a NCAA non-qualifier and attended Lake Superior State as a full-time student in 2012-13.
