After departing the Lakers, Owen Headrick spent just over a year with the OHL's Erie Otters, wearing an "A" for the team in 2017-18. He had four games in the ECHL with the Wheeling Nailers before returning to the college ranks in Canadian USports with the University of Prince Edward Island. He redebuted professionally with Syracuse in the AHL in 2021-22 and spent the next few seasons in North America before heading overseas to compete for Nürnberg Ice Tigers of Germany's DEL.
Sophomore (2016-17): Appeared in 26 games, scoring four goals with four assists before signing for the OHL's Erie Otters.
Freshman (2015-16): Appeared in 39 games... Scored five goals and seven assists to lead Lakers defensemen in scoring... Led WCHA defensemen in goals and ranked second in total points... Tallied assists in consecutive games against Northern Michigan (2/26-27), including a helper on the game-winning goal during a 3-1 victory (2/26)...Registered a pair of power-play assists in a 4-2 win at Alaska (12/4)... Scored the game-winning goal in a 3-2 victory over Ferris State (11/28)... Scored  a power-play goal in a 3-2 loss to Arizona State (11/13) and registered an assist the next night in a 3-2 overtime loss... Assisted on a power-play goal and was +1 during a 5-4 overtime loss to Alabama-Huntsville (10/30)... Scored his first career goal, a power-play tally, in a 4-0 victory against Northern Michigan (10/17).
Prior to LSSU: Played two seasons for the Soo Thunderbirds of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League. During his first season (2013-14), Headrick amassed 8-23--31 in 56 games en-route to winning the NOJHL Rookie of the Year award. In the playoffs that season, he accumulated 2-11--13 in 15 playoff games.
During the 2014-15 season, Headrick's second stint, an injury forced him to appear in just 13 regular season games, racking up 4-9--13. Returning in time for the postseason, Headrick was named the NOJHL playoffs MVP after posting 12-8--20 in 14 playoff appearances. The Thunderbirds won both the NOJHL regular season and playoff championships before advancing to the Dudley Hewitt Cup. In four Dudley Hewitt Cup games, Headrick posted 0-5--5 and the Thunderbirds claimed the title while going 4-0-0. Headrick also claimed the Dudley Hewitt Cup's Most Sportsmanlike Player award.
Personal: The son of Dave and Anne Headrick... A 2015 graduate of St. Mary's College in Sault Ste. Marie, ON... Was drafted by the Erie Otters in the 14th round, #261 overall, in the 2013 OHL Prioty Selection... Headrick has four siblings... Uncle Cody Boissoneau played football at NAIA Graceland University.
