Eric Morford

Eric Morford

Eric Morford was hired as the Director of Creative Content for LSSU in July, 2025. This is a new position for the Lakers, with a focus on social media, in-game entertainment, and other forms of digital engagement. He quickly has earned plaudits from Laker staff for exciting, imaginative, quality work, including the development of the Lakers new Tik Tok channel.

"There's a lot of momentum building at LSSU," Eric said. "It felt like there were big visions that were really exciting and I can be a part of that - the growth of this program.

"When I came out and visited, the appeal was that this felt like a college town. The university and the Sault Ste. Marie community feel closely integrated. You see the flags down the street. It's the smallest city I've lived in, and everyone here feels like a big part of the community. It was exciting to me to be able to play a big role in making Sault Ste. Marie feel like a special place."

Eric comes to Lake Superior State from Acalanas High School in Lafayette, CA, where he spent four years teaching Video Productions and Photography at beginner and advanced levels. He also coached cross country during his first year at Acalanas, and had coached the sport the previous nine years at Liberty High School in Brentwood, CA.

With a blend of coaching and media experience, Eric brings a unique background to the Lakers program. He has a keen understanding of how to show the accomplishments of the Lakers through social media and engage the program's passionate fan base.

"I really want to be able to shine a light on student-athletes through digital media," Eric said. "I think by showing their experiences, we can connect with our great fans and also develop lifelong new fans, too. I feel empowered to be able to share people's stories. That's the beautiful thing about this position. We have the power to be able to share stories like never before."

Followers of Laker social media will see plenty of Eric's content across Tik Tok, Instagram, X, and Facebook. He also produces premium content for the video board in Taffy Abel Arena, making it a featured gameday experience for Laker fans.

Eric earned a Bachelor's degree in Integrated Leadership Studies from Central Michigan University in 2018. He graduated from Heritage High School in Brentwood in 2011, competing in cross country and track and field for four years. He also ran cross country and track and field for two years at the collegiate level for Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.
