Biography

Grant Riley was not cleared to continue his playing career, but remained at Lake Superior state University to continue his studies, graduating in 2026. He volunteered to assist the Lakers coaching staff while pursuing his degree and remained a regular presence at Taffy Abel Arena. With his bright smile, positive attitude and driven nature, Riley's contributions were greatly valued during his time at LSSU, a value that will surely be recognized wherever his professional path takes him.

Redshirt Sophomore (2024-25): Made his first game appearance on 10/12/24 in an exhibition against Simon Fraser, a 4-1 Laker win. Due to injury, it was his first game action since playing 20 seconds on New Year's Day 2023 against Harvard while at Northeastern... Came on in relief against Ohio State for 14:27 on 11/1/24, his first official game action for lssu, allowing one goal on 10 shots, but departed after the first period due to injury.

Sophomore at Northeastern (2023-24): Did not compete and redshirted,

Freshman at Northeastern (2022-23): Appeared in three games... Made his collegiate debut against #19/20 UMass Lowell (Oct. 22)... Recorded 14 saves... Selected to the Hockey East All-Academic Team... Named an ACHA Krampade All-American Scholar.

High School/Juniors: Competed for the Chilliwack Chiefs of the BCHL in 2021-22 where he made 38 appearances with a .907 save percentage, 2.47 GAA, and a 25-10-2 overall record... Appeared in 11 playoff games for Chilliwack, going 4-6-1... Spent time with Omaha and Tri-City of the USHL in 2020-21 where he made seven total appearances... Skated with Janesville (NAHL) in 2019-20, making 37 total appearances with a save percentage of .911, 3.15 GAA, and a 15-19-2 overall record... Selected to both the 2022 BCHL Top Prospects Game and the 2020 NAHL Top Prospects Game.

Personal: Son of Bill and Chris Riley... Has one sibling... Distant relative of Hall of Fame baseball player Honus Wagner... Great grandfather, William Coleman, built the Green Monster at Fenway Park with Coleman Brothers... Majoring in business administration.
