HILLSDALE - The Hillsdale men's basketball team shot 60 percent or better during both halves of Thursday's Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contest to beat Lake Superior State, 99-81, Thursday.
LSSU, which was playing its first road game since Nov. 28, couldn't stop Hillsdale forward Tim Homan, who led the Chargers with 31 points and nine rebounds. He was one of five players who scored in double figures for Hillsdale (9-5 overall, 4-2 GLIAC).
Ryan Kuhl led LSSU (4-9 overall, 3-5 GLIAC) with 22 points and eight rebounds. Scott Perkins added 17 points, and Tim VanOudheusden had 13 points before fouling out. Matt Romatz came off the bench to total 11 points and five rebounds during 14 minutes of action.
Romatz, who scores 4.2 points per game, has averaged 10.0 points per game in has last two contests.
LSSU shot 45.6 percent from the field, including 8-of-18 from three-point range. The Lakers were 11-of-13 at the free-throw line.
Hillsdale out-rebounded the Lakers, 36-29, and shot 60.7 percent from the field for the game. The Chargers were 10-of-21 from three-point range and made 15-of-18 free throws.
LSSU, which is 4-2 in its last six games, plays at 3 p.m. Saturday at Wayne State.
