LSSU falls behind early at No. 15 Findlay

FINDLAY, Ohio - No. 15-ranked Findlay built a 20-point lead during the first 10 minutes of Saturday's Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball game and cruised to a 95-77 victory over Lake Superior State.

The Oilers (15-3 overall, 5-3 GLIAC) led 36-16 with 10:05 remaining in the first half and claimed a 52-30 command by halftime. LSSU (4-11 overall, 3-7 GLIAC) made 6-of-10 three-point attempts and shot 51.9 percent from the field to keep pace with Findlay in the second half.

Ryan Kuhl led Lake Superior State with 19 points and five rebounds. Scott Perkins totaled 16 points and five rebounds, while Micah Hudson had 12 points and Mark Morse 11. Perkins and Morse were a combined 7-for-13 from three-point range.

LSSU shot 43.6 percent from the field for the game and made 19-of-21 free throws. Tim VanOudheusden was 5-for-5 and Hudson 4-for-4 at the line.

Tyler Evans scored 20 points and Josh Bostic added 19 to lead Findlay. The Oilers shot 54.2 percent from the field, including 11-of-26 from behind the arc. They were 19-of-32 from the field (59.4 percent) in the first half.

UF out-rebounded LSSU, 39-24.

The Lakers travel to Saginaw Valley State on Thursday before playing host to Ashland on Jan. 24.
