Box Score HILLSDALE - Lake Superior State rallied back from an eight-point
deficit during a three-minute stretch during the latter part
of Saturday's Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference
women's basketball game only to lose another regular-season
heartbreaker to Hillsdale.
The Chargers (9-9 overall, 9-5 GLIAC), who also claimed a
one-point victory over LSSU (9-9 overall, 6-8 GLIAC) in
December, took advantage of four Laker misses and
two turnovers during the final 2:25 to win, 74-69. Emily Joseph
made two free throws to tie it 69-69, but the Lakers failed to
score during the final 2 1/2 minutes.
Maria Blazejewski led LSSU with 18 points, and Nicole Marshall
followed with 13 points and seven rebounds. Joseph totaled 11
points and seven assists, and Cassy Schemberger had 10 points and
seven rebounds.
The Lakers shot 41.7 percent from the field, including 6-of-19
from three-point range, and made 13-of-18 free throws.
Chelsea Harrison totaled 18 points and seven assists to lead
Hillsdale, which shot 52.9 percent from the field, including
8-of-15 from behind the arc. The Chargers made 5-of-7
three-pointers in the second half. They totaled 22 turnovers, but
out-rebounded the Lakers, 36-29. HC was 12-of-15 at the free-throw
line.
Hillsdale led 36-27 at halftime.
