Box Score ASHLAND, Ohio - Ashland avenged its three-point overtime loss in
Sault Ste. Marie by shooting 53 percent from the field
Saturday on its home court and beating the Lake Superior
State men's basketball team 83-64.
The Eagles (12-11 overall, 8-10 Great Lakes Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference) held LSSU shooters to 31.1 percent from the
field. AU also made 29-of-35 free throws as the two teams combined
for 66 attempts at the foul line.
Ashland took control early, limiting Lake Superior State (12-11
overall, 10-8 GLIAC) to nine first-half field goals and building a
42-25 lead. LSSU didn't fare much better in the second half, going
10-for-30 from the field. The Lakers were 4-of-20 from behind the
arc and 22-of-31 at the free-throw line.
Scott Perkins and Kyle Hunt scored 12 points each for LSSU.
Garrett Konuszewski finished with eight points and a team-high six
rebounds. Laker forwards Andrew Charlesworth and Derek Kinney both
fouled out, and starting center Justin Williams finished with four
fouls.
Bylynn Hatcher scored 14 points and Evan Yates added 13 to lead
AU. The Eagles were 6-of-14 from behind the arc and out-rebounded
LSSU, 44-30.
Williams and Hatcher were called for coincidental technical
fouls five minutes into the second half. AU's Kale
Richardson and Yates also received technicals.
LSSU plays host to Grand Valley State at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
