Box Score TIFFIN, Ohio - Lake Superior State shot a season-high 55.8
percent from the field, including a red-hot 13-of-18 during the
second half, to beat Tiffin 62-48 during Saturday's Great Lakes
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's basketball game.
All five starters scored in double figures for LSSU (13-5
overall, 10-2 GLIAC). Maria Blazejewski, who was 8-of-10 from the
field, led the Lakers with 16 points, and Cassy Schemberger
followed with 13 points and a team-high eight rebounds. Emily
Joseph, Ronlea Peterson and Nicole Marshall scored 11 points
each.
Marshall added seven assists and five rebounds, and Joseph had
five assists and five rebounds.
LSSU also held an opponent to less than 50 points for the
second time in as many games. Tiffin (11-8 overall, 6-7 GLIAC)
trailed 25-16 at halftime after making only seven first-half field
goals.
Karli Mast led Tiffin with 13 points, and Amanda Baute and
Jennifer Johnston followed with 10 each. TU's Mandy Jaeb, who
is the GLIAC's seventh-ranked scorer with a 15.3 points-per-game
average, was held to four points.
LSSU made 2-of-8 three-point attempts and 12-of-14 free throws.
The Lakers out-rebounded Tiffin, 31-28.
The Dragons shot 35.2 percent from the field, including 2-of-10
from three-point range, and made 8-of-14 free throws.
LSSU plays host to Ferris State at 7:30 p.m. Thursday.
