Box Score MIDLAND - Northwood relied on a 13-2 run late in the second half
to secure a 66-50 victory over Lake Superior State during
Saturday's Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's
basketball game.
The Timberwolves (5-2 overall, 1-1 GLIAC) extended a 43-40 lead
to 55-42 with 4:25 remaining in the game. Four players scored in
double figures for NU. Savannah Stedman led with 18 points and 12
rebounds, and Sarah Spring followed with 17 points. Kaitlin Susan
turned in 10 points and 10 rebounds. Spring and Susan connected for
back-to-back three-pointers early in the second half to thwart the
Lakers' momentum.
Northwood shot 36 percent from the field, including 8-of-19 from
three-point range, and made 22-of-27 free throws.
Maria Blazejewski led LSSU (4-5 overall, 0-2 GLIAC) with 24
points. Kandace Crittendon totaled eight points and seven rebounds,
and Cassy Schemberger contributed six points and a career-high 19
rebounds.
Lake Superior State shot 27 percent from the field, including
2-of-17 from three-point range, and made 14-of-18 free throws. The
Lakers out-rebounded NU, 47-38.
The Lakers travel to Hillsdale on Dec. 10.
