SANDUSKY, Ohio - Lake Superior State University advanced to 1-5
in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and 2-15
overall after defeating Tiffin University 5-4 on April 2.
The Lakers swept doubles competition to get off to a 3-0 start
in the match. Doubles partners Sergiu Laza (Toronto, Ont.) and
Brandon Clayton (Windsor, Ont.) took No. 1 doubles, 8-4. Robert
Nelson (Grand Blanc, Mich.) and Travis Toth (St. Johns, Mich.) won
at No. 2 doubles, 8-6. No. 3 doubles partners Dane Fosgard (St.
Clair, Mich.) and Ryne DuShane (Holland, Mich.) were victorious,
8-5.
Laza and Clayton were the only two singles winners for the
Lakers. Laza defeated TU 6-1, 6-3 at No. 1. Clayton won 6-3, 6-4 at
No. 2 singles.
The Lakers continue GLIAC play April 6 at Michigan Tech.
