Box Score BEMIDJI, Minn. - Lake Superior State scored the game's
first goal late in the third period Friday at Bemidji State and
went on to win 2-0. LSSU is now 2-1-0 overall with all three
matchups played against Western Collegiate Hockey Association
opponents.
After a scoreless 56 minutes of play, sophomore
forward Chris Ciotti (1-2--3) netted the Lakers' first
goal, an unassisted power-play goal, at 16:51 of the
third period. Ciotti's goal proved to be the game-winning goal for
LSSU.
The Beavers (0-1-0) pulled netminder Andrew Walsh late in
the game, allowing senior forward Domenic Monardo
(2-4--6) to score an empty-net goal. Junior defenseman Andrew
Perrault (0-2--2) tallied the lone assist on Monardo's goal.
Junior goaltender Kevin Kapalka (2-1-0) made 27 saves for the
Lakers during his first shutout of the season, while Walsh
stopped 38 for BSU. Kapalka notched his seventh career shutout.
LSSU was 1-for-4 on the power-play and held Bemidji
State to 0-for-3.
