GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Lake Superior State men's tennis
team opened its season with a-three match road trip. The
Lakers' first stop was against at Aquinas College, where
they lost 9-0 on Friday. LSSU continued to Davenport on
Saturday and fell 6-3. LSSU finishes out its road
trip Sunday at Alma.
LSSU junior Felipe Baptista (Sau Paulo, Brazil) defeated Vitaly
Shumilov 6-4, 6-4 at No. 1 singles. LSSU sophomore Ryan DuShane
(Holland, Mich.) won at No. 5 singles 7-6 (7-5), 3-6, 7-6
(6-2).
No. 1 doubles pair of Baptista and junior Joao Gaberiel-Oliveira
(Sao Loureco, Brazil) defeated DU's Shumilov and Eric Pell,
8-5.
The Lakers will play their home opener Feb. 19 against Lewis in
the Arbuckle Student Activity Center at noon.
