percent from the field during it 21-point victory at LSSU in Jan.
7. GVSU's point total and shooting percentage were team season
highs in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play.
During Saturday's rematch, LSSU held GVSU to a GLIAC season-low
point total en route to a 51-42 victory. Lake Superior State
improved to 8-13 overall and 4-10 in the GLIAC. Grand Valley State,
which is 1-5 in its last six games, fell to 9-12 overall and 6-8 in
the GLIAC. GVSU shot 31.3 percent from the field during the rematch
after shooting a mere 25.8 percent from the field during Thursday's
loss to Saginaw Valley State.
Grand Valley State came back from a seven-point deficit to lead
21-18 at halftime. GVSU was also ahead 41-35 with 6:38 remaining in
the second half.
LSSU's Maria Blazejewski scored five points to lead a 14-0 run
that included scoring contributions from Kandace Crittendon, Taylor
Greene, Cassy Schemberger, Jasmine Brown and Raven Trammell. The
run put Lake Superior State on top, 49-41, with 46 seconds left as
GVSU went 0-for-10 from the field and committed three turnovers
during the six-minute stretch.
Trammell, who did not play in Thursday's game at Ferris State,
led LSSU with 16 points and four rebounds. Blazejewski and
Schemberger scored nine points each, and Brown followed with eight.
Schemberger led LSSU rebounders with seven and had four steals.
LSSU shot 38.5 percent from the field, including 4-of-18 from
three-point range, and made 17-of-27 free throws.
Briauna Taylor totaled 19 points and 10 rebounds to lead GVSU.
The GVSU Lakers shot 31.3 percent from the field, including 5-of-27
from behind the arc, and made 7-of-12 free throws. GVSU
out-rebounded LSSU, 35-29.
