SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - Lake Superior State dropped its second
straight Great Lakes Intercolleigate Athletic Conference men's
tennis match. Grand Valley defeated the LSSU 7-2 in the Arbuckle
Student Activity Center on Saturday.
The Lakers are 3-7 overall and 0-2 in the GLIAC. LSSU travels to
GLIAC opponents Northwood and Wayne State on March 23 and 24,
respectively.
Junior Felipe Baptista (Sau Paulo, Brazil) took a 6-1, 6-4
victory over Andrew Darrell of GVSU at the No. 1 singles position.
The Lakers' other victory came at No. 3 doubles. Dane Fosgard (St.
Clair, Mich.) and David Wieczor (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.) defeated,
GVSU 8-1.
Ryne DuShane was defeated at No. 5 singles in a third-set
tiebreaker 6-3, 3-6, 10-4. Fosgard played a close match for the
Lakers at no. 4 singles, losing 7-6 (7-5), 6-1.
