SAULT STE. MARIE - Lake Superior State suffered its second
straight 5-4 loss in as many days as Tiffin held the edge in
doubles play to beat the Lakers Saturday at the Arbuckle
Student Activity Center.
Felipe Baptista (Sau Paulo, Brazil) and Joao
Gaberiel-Oliveira (Sao Loureco, Brazil) claimed an 8-3 win at
No. 1 for the Lakers' lone doubles win. Baptista also won 6-2, 7-6
(7-1) at No. 1 singles and finished 4-0 during this weekend's
homestand.
LSSU (3-11 overall, 0-6 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic
Conference) and Tiffin (10-5 overall, 2-3 GLIAC) split
singles decisions. Lake State's Travis Toth (St. Johns,
Mich.) claimed a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 2, and Ryne DuShane
(Holland, Mich.) won 7-6 (7-4), 6-4 at No. 5.
DuShane was 2-0 in singles for the weekend.
Lake Superior State plays host to Michigan Tech at 2
p.m. on April 7.
