Box Score SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - Lake Superior State snapped a
Saturday-night losing streak by defeating Bowling Green 4-3. The
Lakers were 0-4-0 on Saturdays dating back to Nov. 2 prior to
completing the series sweep.
The Lakers improved to 9-4-1 overall and 5-3-0 in the Western
Collegiate Hockey Association with their second straight 4-3
victory. It was their fifth straight game decided by one goal, and
they improved to 5-4 in one-goal decisions in 2013-14.
BGSU (6-7-3 overall, 4-5-1 WCHA), which has played four straight
games decided by one goal, took at 1-0 lead into the second period
after the Falcons' Dajon Mingo tallied the night's first of two
goals.
BGSU dropped to 4-4 in one-goal games, and has lost three
straight.
At 19:49 of the second period, LSSU senior forward Dan Radke
(3-9--12) netted his first of two goals, finishing off impressive
plays linemate Colin Campbell (5-6--11) and defenseman Kevin
Czuczman (4-8--12). Freshman forward Garret Clemment (3-5--8) gave
LSSU a 2-1 lead at 3:05 of the third by tipping in a shot by Andrew
Perrault (1-4--5). Chris Ciotti (1-6--7) picked up the other
assist.
Dan DeSalvo brought the Falcons back into the game at 3:05 of
the third. BGSU's Mingo tallied his last goal of the night, making
it a 3-2 game at 6:48.
The Lakers, who have out-scored opponents 17-12 in the third
period this season, fought back with two unanswered goals. Radke
scored his second of the night at 11:03 to tie the game, 3-3. Eric
Drapluk (4-3--7) earned the lone assist. Sophomore forward Bryce
Schmitt (2-3--5) scored LSSU's game-winning goal at 14:02 from
Andrew Dommett (4-2--6) and Czuczman.
Senior netminder Kevin Murdock (4-1-0) made his first appearance
in net since Nov. 2 and stopped 32 shots on goal. Tomas Sholl
(2-6-0) tallied 28 saves for BGSU. The Lakers were 0-for-3 and held
Bowling Green 0-for-4 on the power-play.
