Box Score SAULT STE. MARIE - Lake Superior State clawed its way back from
a 19-point deficit only to let the lead get out of hand again late
in the second half of Thursday's Great Lakes Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference women's basketball opener against Findlay.
The Oilers (3-0 overall, 1-0 GLIAC) extended a 12-point lead
back to 21 points with 3:49 to go and went on to win, 88-72.
Raven Trammell scored 21 points and Stephanie Fisher added a
career-high 18 to lead LSSU (0-5 overall, 0-1 GLIAC). LSSU leading
scorer Kandace Crittendon was held to a season-low four points.
Alex Morrow and Trammell totaled a team-high seven rebounds each,
and Kelsey Ance followed with six during her first collegiate
appearance.
LSSU shot 45.5 percent from the field, including 8-of-22 from
three-point range. The Lakers made 14-of-18 free throws and
out-rebounded Findlay, 36-27.
Margaret Wuebker scored 18 points to lead four double-figure
scorers for Findlay. Nikki Gunning added 14 points. UF shot 52.4
percent from the field and was also 8-of-22 from behind the arc.
The Oilers made 14-of-15 free throws.
Findlay out-scored LSSU 10-0 in points off turnovers during the
first half and led 48-32 at intermission.
LSSU plays host to Hillsdale at 1 p.m. Saturday.
